"Austin was a great resource for me during my flight training. He helped bridge the gap in areas that I struggled in my primary training. He's been an exceptional mentor. His ability to explain confusing concepts was valuable. He is patient, kind, and was very supportive as an instructor to me. I love his demeanor and I aspire to one day instruct as he does."
"Great instructor, very patient and super knowledgeable."
Discovery FlightsA discovery flight is an introductory flying experience designed for those interested in flight training. It allows aspiring pilots to sit in the cockpit of a small aircraft, often alongside a certified flight instructor, and take the controls under supervision. This hands-on experience provides a glimpse into the fundamentals of flying, including takeoff, basic maneuvers, and landing procedures. Discovery flights typically last between 30 minutes to an hour and serve as an exciting first step toward obtaining a pilot’s license. They also help individuals determine if they want to pursue formal flight training while offering a thrilling and educational experience in the skies.
Private Pilot TrainingPrivate pilot training is the foundation for anyone looking to fly recreationally or as a stepping stone to advanced aviation certifications. The training involves both ground school and flight instruction, covering essential topics such as aerodynamics, navigation, weather, and aviation regulations. Students log a minimum number of flight hours, including solo flights and cross-country trips, under the guidance of a certified flight instructor. They must also pass a written knowledge test, a flight skills evaluation, and a checkride with an FAA examiner. Earning a private pilot license (PPL) grants the ability to fly personal aircraft under visual flight rules (VFR), opening the door to travel and adventure in the skies.
Commercial Pilot TrainingCommercial pilot training is the next step for those looking to turn their passion for flying into a career. This advanced training builds on private pilot skills, focusing on precision flying, complex aircraft operations, and commercial flight regulations. Students must log a minimum number of flight hours, gain experience in cross-country and nighttime flying, and refine their proficiency in maneuvers required for professional pilots. Training includes both ground school and in-flight instruction, culminating in a checkride with an FAA examiner. Upon earning a commercial pilot license (CPL), pilots can be compensated for their services, opening opportunities in charter flights, aerial photography, flight instruction, and eventually airline careers.
Flight ReviewsA flight review is a mandatory evaluation for pilots to ensure they remain proficient and up to date with current aviation regulations and best practices. Required by the FAA every two years for pilots to maintain their certificate, the review typically involves both ground and flight components. During the ground portion, the instructor covers topics such as airspace, regulations, and weather, while the flight portion tests the pilot's ability to safely operate an aircraft, demonstrating maneuvers, navigation, and emergency procedures. The flight review helps pilots refresh their skills, identify any areas for improvement, and ensure they’re prepared for safe flying. If a pilot does not pass the review, additional training or instruction may be required before they can fly again.
